Artsy Over Here, F*** Y'all Over There

When it comes to artistic value, interpretive dance has little value to me at all. That's why in these hard economic times I believe we should make massive cuts in the budget that provide grant money for the arts. The cost of operation should be paid for by those who can find some kind of redeeming value in it.

Money for school programs are fine. But after high school or college all funds should be provided by those who want to partake of whatever art they want.

I saw a performer last night who dressed up like an elephant and danced and splashed around in a corporate mall fountain. I thought it was horrible. I mean I've seen street performers with more talent. I've actually given street performers money when I thought they did a good job. If this guy was on the street doing what he did last night, people would think he was crazy.

The bottomline for me is I don't believe my tax dollars should go to art that I don't believe is art.

Chimpanzee Handshake

On a special airing of Jimmy Kimmel Live airing right after Game 5 of the 2009 NBA Finals, Jimmy kind of pissed me off.

Jimmy did a skit called Jimmy the talking Chimp and spoke with two children. At about 3:40 into the video Jimmy offers to teach the kids the chimpanzee handshake.

This chimpanzee handshake turns out to be nothing more than the brotherman handshake. A regular handshake followed by the grabbing of thumbs then the grabbing of four fingers is next, finally finishing off with a fist bump.

A small thing? MAYBE

Racially insensitive? MAYBE

Am I being a little too sensitive? Maybe

Well consider this. Friday June 12 Rusty Depass referred too a loose gorilla as being one of Michelle Obama's ancestors.

And let's not forget the old school racial slur "porch monkey".

I dunno nevermind

Reluctant Introduction

I am here to give away more of my life in the physical world to document absolutely nothing in this virtual macrocosm of conceited self-adorers and generally high-handed dumbasses. Yes, I do love myself; and yes, I can be an ass at times. I'm not that special.

Keystroke after painstakingly mundane keystroke, I will journey closer to the answers that query the encephala of man. Like, "Why is it so easy to cast aspersions at oneself?" or "Why do I enjoy excreting on bill collectors when they call to harass me?" or "Why won't I just fix my credit?" Who knows.

I am compelled to start this blog because it just "seems" like the right thing to do. I have never kept a journal or a diary, but somehow I am under the spell of the internet. As if the word "blog" is some sort of monosyllabic incantation that necessitates me to type.

So as this is the first installment of the Boomix Cube, I'll keep this short and bittersweet until I really have something to say.
